Why You Should Visit Pennsylvania This Summer

Lautrec, one of the few restaurants in the US to hold a five star & five diamond award

Do you think that family vacations in Pennsylvania are overrated? Especially if you live on the east coast of the US, you may think to yourself, “Been there, done that”.

Pennsylvania is full of family fun and excitement. Destinations like the Poconos Mountains and Philadelphia have outdoor adventure and phenomenal food all wrapped up in one. Attractions like Hershey Park, Sesame Place and Dutch Wonderland have kid sized adventure.

The Nemacolin Woodlands Resort however, seems to have it all. This luxury family vacation area sits on 2,000 wooded acres. There are six lodging areas available for vacationers so, I am sure your family will find something that suits you.  We certainly did.

This “keeper” was feeding the bear using her mouth.

The adventure center has activities such as zip lining, off-road riding and mountain biking. The Wildlife Academy should not be missed either. Jamaican dog sledding, pony rides and an animal safari are a few things available there.

I don’t even remember the name of this critter

Lastly, I am all about the food. Lautrec is one of only 20 restaurants in the US to hold both a five star and five diamond award simultaneously.  This restaurant also has the youngest and only female chef to lead a five star restaurant.

If that does not impress you, then go for the candy cart at the end of dinner. Amazing!

My son is visiting Pennsylvania this summer for the first time. He is just 16 and this is his first time away from home, I thought your post was very timely. Thanks for the ideas – I am sure he will have fun checking them out.

{Kathy} Nemacolin Woodlands Resort is awesome! My family and I visited there one summer after one of my sons attended soccer camp in Steubenville. We had a blast–and yes the food was incredible. Being from “Disneyworld” land, we were skeptical. However, we loved it!
