That’s it! You’ve decided that you need to start working out again but, the idea of getting a gym membership is less than favorable especially now in the middle of a pandemic. Or, maybe it’s too expensive or maybe you figure that you’ll cut down on the commute time and get active right at home. Well, you couldn’t have selected a better time because the time is now work on your home gym is right now.

what to put in your home gym

I’ve been working out from my home gym for years and I have to say that converting our storage closet to a small workout space was one of the best health decisions that I’ve made. If you don’t have a space that you can solely dedicate to working out, don’t worry. Pick and choose what you need and improvise by using the corner of your bedroom, a closet, kids play area or whatever.

The most important thing is that you start somewhere. Using the excuse that you don’t have the money to pay for a gym membership or space to workout is just not valid in today’s world. The truth is, where there is a will, there is a way.

No two home gyms will have all the same workout equipment and supplies because everyone is different. Use this list as a guide to get you started on a better track to health and fitness.

Remember, you don’t have to buy everything all at once. But just buying one thing on this list is a great start. Eventually, you can build it up to include more items at the fraction of the cost of a gym membership. Go as big or small as you want, it’s really up to you.

The items I am recommending below are what I have or similar to what I have at home. Are you ready to workout? Let’s get your home gym stocked right.

Dumbbells

Selectable Dumbbells

I love these dumbbells because they don’t take up a lot of space and both my husband and I can use them since they go up to 52.5 pounds.

Treadmill

Hop on the treadmill and get your cardio in rain or shine.

Weight Bench

This 4 in 1 weight bench is what you need in an adjustable weight bench in a small space.

Resistance Bands

A set of five resistance bands that you can take to work, office, keep at home or take when you travel

Pull-Up Bar

Did you think that you couldn’t do pull ups at home? Think again. This multi-gym pull up bar has a 300 pound capacity so that you can get things done.

Exercise Mat

If you’re going to work out at home you just have to have an exercise mat. Rug burn is just not cute.
The Sivan exercise mat is easy to transport, thick for comfort and adds shock absorption for healthy knees joints.

Stability Ball

Keeping the core engaged during workouts is one of the keys to a successful workout regimen. Stability balls are great because no matter what exercise you’re doing, they help to keep your core engaged. Use it for upper body exercises, abdominal work, core exercises and even upper body work. Stability balls are a must-have in any home gym and this one won’t roll away.

Work Out Videos

There are so many workout videos and DVD’s out there. Just a quick search within Amazon.com will reveal lots of options.

BeachBody on Demand, allows users to stream popular workouts on demand at your convenience.

I personally like P90x it because it helped me bounce back after my pregnancy in no time. No it’s not easy but it get’s the job done.

And that’s it. Everything you need to get started in your home gym.
