Have you ever needed a quick getaway? That’s just what I needed a few weeks ago to get my batteries recharged.

I never need an excuse to stay at a fabulous hotel. That’s just what I found at the Mayflower hotel in downtown, Washington, DC. The historic property located on Connecticut avenue, is surrounded lots of shops, restaurants and more than a few things to do.

Although we did go for a quick getaway here’s what I can tell you.

You need to visit Edgar Bar and Kitchen. They have the most amazing, I mean amazing scallops that I have ever tasted. Chef Alaa knows his way around the kitchen, that’s for sure. These things were so good that I even shared this on Instagram.

And why is this salted caramel ice cream is so good? I mean it’s topped with chocolate caramel corn and fresh made whipped topping. It just doesn’t make any sense. Dieters beware!

Oh and for the shoppers, the Mayflower has a Thomas Pink store right inside the property. I have always loved Thomas Pink shirts. The flag ship store is on Jermyn Street in London, sandwiched between the famous Ritz London and Picadilly Circus.

Right across the street there is also an H&M…again a fashionista’s playground. The Mayflower hotel is located in the exclusive Golden Triangle district and only 5 blocks from Dupont Circle which makes it a  central location for everything DC.

And a special “shout out”  goes out to the server for making this Arnold Palmer right. Not sweet at all. Just a perfect balance of ice tea and lemonade.
