Anyone else feeling the squeeze of the fall and upcoming holiday season? I can’t say that I am surprised but geez… I sure do get tired. My family is a crazy traveling, homeschooling, entrepreneurial bunch. I like it but sometimes I want to hit pause.

Instead of waiting for the next holiday or birthday for a much needed break, I have a mom hack for a Mom Break, even if it’s breakfast on the go. Cue up the dance music and join me in the Macarena. No, really…I want you to stop reading and start dancing because, once I discovered this sweet spot, that’s exactly what I wanted to do.

To execute this ‘Mom Break’ effectively you’re going to have to do a some prep work on the night before.  Head to Giant Eagle for your favorite breakfast treats. Giant is conveniently located about 5 minutes away from my house so stopping to get the supplies I need at home or on the go is super easy. For me, lox and gluten free bagels are always on my “Mom Break” menu. But overnight oatmeal, fresh fruit, yesterday’s dinner frittata and granola can work too. The key is to prep everything the night before. So make your favorite porridge or oatmeal, hard boil some eggs, make a satisfying dinner frittata, and have it for breakfast. You can even make the filling for a tasty breakfast burrito the night before and wrap and microwave it in the morning.

*Note: I highly recommend against eating soft boiled eggs in the car it just gets too messy.

I recently found out the Simply Singles® come in single serve bottles so that makes breakfast super easy for me to grab on the go. So that means once I leave the house with my breakfast in the morning, my juice is not far behind. Simple Singles come in many great flavors but I opted for Simply Orange because, hey… it’s orange juice. Grabbing two bottles means that I can have one bottle on the road while running errands eating breakfast and can have the other later or when I get home.

And since I’m making smarter choices, I’m happy that Simply Orange® is made from non GMO oranges with no added preservatives, color or artificial colors. I found Simply Singles in the juice and cream section at the back of my local Giant Eagle. Giant Eagle is a great place to shop for on-the-go breakfast, snacks or your perfect afternoon “pick me up”.

Don’t forget to add some great adult tunes to the mix after you drop the kids off to their school or various activities. Toddler tunes gets kind of repetitive after a while. A favorite CD or satellite radio station will do the trick.

If you want to go for extra credit and you have heated seats in your car, crank the seats up so that they’re nice and toasty and the volume on the car stereo to “club style”. Now enjoy your commute back home, to the doctor’s office, to work, the gym or whatever. You deserve it.

Be sure to head to your neighborhood Giant Eagle the next time you need a Mom Break and snag a Simply Single beverage while you’re there.
