Summer, summer, summertime. My favorite time of the year! Well that’s until Christmas rolls around. But summer does have a slight leg up because it’s warm. One of my favorite things about summer is trying new activities with the kids. Honestly, our homeschool calendar is jammed packed so I’m delighted to put my teacher hat down for a few months. One of the activities that we got to try a few years ago was Monster Jam.
And guess what? Monster Jam is back and bigger than ever, now celebrating their 30th anniversary this year!
Many times when kids try a activity for the first time, they get a bit reluctant. As a transplant of a small Caribbean island, recreation and entertainment was not as diverse in terms of things to do. Things like ice skating rinks, amusement parks and Monster Jam were definitely not an option. I grew up often wondering what life “in the states” would be like.
Now that I’m grown up with kids and a family of my own, we try to do fun activities like this when it comes into town.
Speaking of Monster Jam, the fun and excitement is coming to FedEx Field for the first time. The show will take place on June 11th at 7pm.
If you don’t live in the DC Metro area, don’t worry. There’s a a good chance that Monster Jam may be coming to a city near you.
My family and I attended a Monster Jam a few years ago and my daughter still talks about it. My son, is too young to remember but, I recall that he was fascinated and alarmed all at the same time. This year (three years later), I intend on creating some new memories with them.
It was just the right mix of both. He was three years old the first time. If you’re taking your kids, make sure to get them earplugs or noise cancelling head phones.
The next time we went, the kids were six and nine respectfully and now they are eight and twelve.
It’s nice to see the kids grow and enjoy the experience of Monster Jam through the years.
Attending Monster Jam is a great evening activity to break up the monotony of doing the same summer activities time and time again.
If you live in or around the DC Metro Area here are some details on the show.
