I love getting dressed up. I don’t find it cumbersome or bothersome. It’s my sweet spot. Lately, I haven’t been getting many opportunities to play dress up so when I do…I just jump right in mixing and matching. A recent wedding invite allowed me to do just.
Experimenting with textures and colors is one of the things I love about fall. I was so happy that I decided to take a chance on this gold pleated skirt at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale.
The truth is after I bid farewell to my maroon pleated skirt after high school, I really didn’t care if I didn’t wear another. From five to 18 years old. Five days a week. Pleated skirts were the norm as a part of my school uniform.
So maybe I’ve been rebelling all these years. Actually I have. It has taken be over twenty years to get here but I’m back in pleats. The new fall styles make it hard to resist.
Although my gold skirt is now sold out, this metallic pleated skirt is on sale and would be just as fabulous for a holiday party or a fun formal night out.
A similar look is this frosted pleated style that is a definite closet staple.
You could also add some glamour with this wine pleated skirt from Vince Camuto. It’s just a tad shorter but just as elegant.
I paired the skirt with a floral corset oldie from my closet. The corset is sold out but I’m linking some other corset options below.
And a party ain’t a party without some dancing. Scooped up these pointy toe studded chic ballet flats and they were perfect for dancing.
Yes girl… flats for a wedding. I felt like a dancing rebel. I may have been a tad shorter than everyone else, but I do a wicked electric slide so I had to be ready.
The sunglasses were a great buy so I’m not surprised that they’ve sold out. Zulily only has 7 left of this pair so hurry before they sell out.

Your turn. Are you headed to a wedding or formal night out and want to know what to wear? Shake things up a little. You can shop the details for my look below.
