Pumpkins, hayrides and mountain escapes…that’s what fall dreams are made of. I recently had the opportunity to escape with my family to the historic Inn at Pocono Manor and it was just the getaway that we needed. To the chagrin of my groom, I’ve recently decided that while I love our summer travels, we could do with a few fall and winter trips sprinkled into the mix. That’s why I was so excited to get the invitation to experience The Inn at Pocono Manor.
Our fall schedule has been so hectic lately, and I needed a place to escape and rest my hat and my head for a few days.
The Inn at Pocono Manor is a 3000 acre resort tucked away in the Pocono Mountains with a history of welcoming guests since 1902. About a 4 hour drive from the Washington, DC area, activities at the Pocono Inn Resort include hiking, biking, archery, golf, a bb gun range, fall foliage hikes and more.
One stroll down the hotel corridors and you know that you are walking down halls steeped deep in history.
As a matter of fact, pictures hung proudly depict horse drawn carriages and hotel guests in garments of years past.
As part of Pocono Inn’s fall events, we gathered pumpkins in the hotel’s pumpkin patch (only available in October).
Got close and personal with animals in the petting zoo…
and made fond memories on those hay rides.
High winds during our stay prevented us from taking advantage of roasting marshmallows near the bonfire but, all is easily forgotten when there are piles of crunchy leaves to play in.
At the Pocono Inn Resort, patrons have a choice of a few different restaurant options. The Exchange is the most formal and available to meet your dining needs. Lamplighter Lounge caught me off guard with their killer loaded fries. The Pocono Pizzeria is the newest restaurant of the bunch and guests convene every morning at the Mountain View Dining Room for everything from Belgium waffles, to fresh fruit and omelettes made fresh to order.
During the holiday season, guests can look forward to special touches like ELF turndown service and a magical fireside Christmas entrance. I recommend calling ahead to to ensure which restaurants and attractions will be available during your stay.
Needless to say, I know that the kids will remember this trip to the Pocono Inn Resort for a long time. I’ve got the pictures to prove it!
For more pictures and a behind the scenes of our stay, watch this video below. Thanks for hosting us (The Inn at Pocono Manor)!
Now, I can say that I’ve stayed at a hotel listed on the National Registry of Historic Places and that’s something to smile about.
