Have you ever been told that you can’t? Even if you haven’t been told directly, the world is constantly sending our girls and women messages, that they can’t. Covergirl is stepping up to the plate and helping to change “can’t” into “can” with their empowerment #GirlsCan campaign, encouraging women to follow their dreams, whatever those dreams may be.

Sometimes, it’s not so much about what people say we can’t do, but the things we believe we can.

In celebration of the #GirlsCan campaign, I am sharing just a few of my personal #GirlsCan moments and demonstrating how I’ve changed can’t to can in my life.

That time I won a pageant at my undergrad alma mater I attended and went on to represent my school on a national level, as shy and reserved as I was. I was never much of a social butterfly, but garnered enough courage to push myself through.

That time when I completed my Doctor of Pharmacy degree in four years amidst so much cultural, personal and social change. I wanted to quit so many times, but didn’t.

And after all that schooling, I decided to  take a risk and pursue my passion for food, travel and lifestyle as the founder of  The Domestic Life Stylist. Eventually, becoming a lifestyle contributor at 5 Minutes for Mom and even traveling to Mexico for a media stay at the Riviera Maya.
