A few weeks ago I had the chance to attend the Disney Social Media Moms Conference at Walt Disney World. The conference was filled with learning, networking and even a fun social media challenge a day before we set sail for Disney’s Castaway Cay. To my delight, I won the social media challenge when I posted this photo on Instagram. That was the highlight of the cruise for me.

I was already excited to get some “island time” in on Castaway Cay but, winning one of three prizes at the social media challenge made it even more special.

So what did I win? A day stay at my own private Cabana at Castaway Cay! There are currently 25 cabanas in total but, cabana number one is where all the fun went down.

Once we exited the Disney Wonder, we took some pictures with Captain Hook and headed straight for the open tram to the Pelican Point Tram Stop.

The shuttles run about every 6 minutes but, it wasn’t long before we were heading to our own private piece of paradise on Castaway Cay.

When renting a cabana on Disney’s Castaway Cay you have a few choices for your own private beach style retreat.

A Family Beach Cabana rental includes 6 guests with the option to add additional guests up to 10 guests maximum for that cabana.

The Grand Family Beach Cabanas includes 10 guests with a maximum of 16 guests for that Grand Cabana.

The Serenity Bay Beach Cabanas includes 4 guests with a maximum of 10 guests per cabana and is located at the adult’s only Serenity Bay. So if you are traveling without kids, cabanas 22-25 are for you with cabana 22 being closest to the restroom.

It’s also important to note that Family Beach Cabanas 1-8 are located closest to the restroom with cabana number one being the closest to the bathrooms and Cookies Too, (one of the islands’ options for lunch). Cabanas 9-21 are further along the beach.

After passing Cookies Too and the restrooms, a wooded swing gate will lead you to the Family Cabanas on Family Beach and cabana one on the left.

There’s nothing like personalization to help you feel at home.

Besides access to the cabana itself, the private beach cabana on Castaway Cay includes unlimited bottles of water and sodas, fresh fruit, a selection of magazines, float and tube rental, 1 hour bike rental, snorkel equipment, sand toys (great if you have kids), snacks like Kudos snack bars, chips and SPF Coppertone products.

Cool towels can be found in the refrigerator and are great for getting some chill time on a hot day.

The privacy of the cabanas can’t be beat and I won’t blame you if want to sleep the day away on the hammock.

Chuck your valuables away in the cabana safe and lazily drift to sleep.

Whenever you get hungry, you will love the fact that Cookies Too is just a few steps away. We did.

Make choices from items like barbecue chicken, burgers, hot dogs, fresh fruits, cakes, potato salad, coleslaw, soft serve ice cream and more.

Just take the food back to your cabana because there is more than enough space to dine.

Once you’re ready to take a dip in the ocean, you won’t have to stake out a space on the crowded family beach because wrist bands give cabana guests access to a private beach area.

This private beach area is enforced so potential trespassers be warned.

Fresh water showers are a bonus feature of cabana rental and ensures that sand can stay on the beach once you’re ready to leave.

I didn’t think of getting one when we were there but now that I’ve seen and read your post I will have to the next time we go. I just LOVED the Castaway Cay and can’t wait to do another Disney Cruise again and have been recommending them to everyone.

I have heard that they book up quickly. Step one, book the Disney cruise. Step two, book the cabana.
