We had the opportunity to do some great traveling recently. And if, you have been reading the blog for some time, you know that I love to travel. Earlier this month, we went back to my island home in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
Actually if you are planning a trip to the Virgin Islands, you’ll want to read my 5 Tips to Travel Like a Local to the Virgin Islands.
While we did not do much in terms of “island touring”, we did make time for family, the beach and some of my favorite island treats.
Coral World
Coral World is an ocean park, observatory and even has a Sea Trek that guests can take advantage of. While we did not do the Sea Trek, we visited Coral World so that I could share with my daughter some of what I had learned to appreciate growing up. It was a hot and humid Caribbean day though, so we did have to cut the trip a bit short.
Some of the sea creatures that you can touch and see:
There are many other sea creatures and fish to behold. There are even sea lions! But my little princess was tired, so we had to leave early. But not before I took a picture of everyone’s favorite Caribbean local, the iguana.
Here are some of my Island Favorites:
Drinking Coconut Water from a Coconut

St. Peter Great House & Botanical Gardens

Delly Deck in St. Thomas, Local Island Breakfast
Texas Pit: Texan BBQ on a Caribbean Isle

Salt Fish Pate: An Island Food Favorite
Johnny Cake and Cheese
(Think fried bread with cheese, I love this stuff)
My Absolute Favorite:
Playing with my daughter and watching her discover that traditional sandboxes are so overrated compared to the beach.
Before you head on your trip, make sure you have a great camera for the journey. The Virgin Islands has some of the best photo backdrops around. I have a Cannon Rebel T3i and love it. On Amazon the Cannon Rebel T5 is getting rave reviews. The Nikon D3200 is loved my many. And who hasn’t been amazed my the photos taken with a GoPro?
