March is here, so that means one thing…spring is in the air. The flowers will soon be blooming, bees buzzing and birds swooning. So what are you going to do? The kids have been begging you to head outdoors the entire winter, it’s time to get active. Here are five springtime activities that both you and your kids will enjoy.
Take a Nature Walk
Take a nature walk through a park or even your local neighborhood. Make it even more interesting by looking out for birds’ nests, counting colorful birds, or have the kids collect small twigs or leaves along the way.
Plant/Tend to Garden
Planting a garden is a great family bonding activity for all age groups. Local hobby/craft store even have rakes, shovels and water pitchers especially designed for small hands. You can also get the kids involved by having them select different color flowers, various planter or flower pots and the types of herbs/veggies that they would like to eat.
Plan a Trip to the Museum
Spring is a great time to rediscover local museums in your area. Especially at kids’ museums, they may have special listings of spring activities and events for families to enjoy. Look out for discounts and promotions as the weather continues to warm up.
Go to the Playground
This is an “oldie but goodie”. There is nothing like taking the kids to the playground on a warm spring day. The swings and slides seem to long for the interaction as much as the kids have. Depending on where you live, you may even be able to catch an ice cream truck or snow cone vendor while you are at the park. It’s like a two for one deal!
Have a Spring Tea Party
Spring is a great excuse (as if you ever needed one) to plan a tea party. The colors and flavors of spring can make an exciting backdrop for spring tea fun! I gave all the details on how to plan a spring tea party here.
What are you going to do to celebrate spring?

Wonderful ideas! I’m planning this year to be more involved with the family and creat a small flower garden in the back yard.
