Karisma Hotel Selections in Riviera Maya, Mexico

As the Fine Living/Travel writer at 5 Minutes for Mom, I recently had the opportunity to experience the Generations Riviera Riviera Maya in Mexico. Expenses, airfare and accommodations were provided for the stay but all opinions remain 100% my own.

Just a few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to visit the Generations Riviera Maya in Mexico. Just 25 minutes from the Cancun airport, Generations Riviera Maya is part of the Karisma hotel brand and one of three options for families traveling to the Riviera Maya region of Mexico.

Hotel selections at Karisma Gourmet Inclusive Resorts

Sister properties El Dorado Royale and El Dorado Casitas Royale are actually only a mere 5 minute walk away from The Generations Riviera Maya.

El Dorado Royale

Although I did not stay at the El Dorado Royale, I did get to experience what makes this adults only resort shine.

mexican starters & tapas

Rincón Mexicano

My taste buds explored culinary tastes authentic to Mexico…non of that Tex-Mex stuff -(nothing wrong with it but, my taste buds craved authenticity). Molé, flank steak and chorizo tacos, fish and shrimp taco chipotle tacos and fresh made guacamole.

There would be more pictures to share, but we seriously just gobbled the food up.

Guacamayas

Guacamayas bar offers a vast array of nightly entertainment like juggling, variety skits and even Cirque de Soleil style performances.

Fuentes Culinary Theater

Fuentes Culinary theater

At Fuentes Culinary Theater guests are entertained while they dine.  It’s really a novel approach at dinner and a show so don’t go hungry.  The open kitchen allows guests to view the chef has he prepares samples of everything that will be enjoyed at that evening’s show. Over sized TV monitors up above ensure that no guest misses a thing.

The restaurant Sommelier shares the journey of wines alongside. Between courses, diners are dazzled by an acrobatic show as gliding chiseled bodies swing from ropes and hang from harnesses a few feet above your head.

El Dorado Casitas Royale

El Dorado Casitas Royale is actually an exclusive spa adults-only resort within El Dorado Royale featuring fine casita suites that were recently featured on the popular television series Real Housewives of Atlanta.  We even got to tour the suites that the cast mates stayed in.

Generations Riviera Maya

kids lounge chairs

The Generations Riviera Maya is a family resort that is also a part of Karisma hotels. I wrote extensively about how I loved their baby and children’s amenities like these adorable lounge chairs above, on the 5 Minutes for Mom website.

The only thing that I loved more than the family friendly accommodations at the resort was the food.

Generations hotel food

The food tasted so fresh that one would think the resort had their own garden. Well actually they do…sort of. There are several greenhouses at the El Dorado and Generations Riviera Maya properties.

Greenhouses

tomato vines

The greenhouses use a hydroponic or soil free system to grow organic fruits, vegetables and herbs like cucumbers, peppers, herbs, basil and lettuce and is one of the prides of the Karisma brand.

vine tomatoes

Instead of using soil, things like coconut mulch and lava rock are used as “dirt” medium.

It makes for tasty eating and drinking.

And if you have not caught on yet, anything that has to do with great food is on my “favorites” list.

  2. Oh, this looks so relaxing. Those green striped lounge chairs are so cute, and I’m loving the view of the beach from the dining. And the fact that they have their own greenhouses is amazing! I bet the food was delicious. Thanks so much for sharing on Inspire Me Wednesday, Lisa! Featuring you in this week’s issue.

The chairs were so cute Mel. Kind of wished that I was that little again. And the food…yes it was so delish.

  3. This looks wonderful. I lived in that area (Cozumel and Isla Mujeres) for 6 years and whenever I see photos I feel the pull to go back.

Girl, I’m sorry it’s apparently been a couple of weeks since I sat down here at the DLS, because how did I miss this? You were practically getting paid to travel! That is amazing! Congratulations. Everything looks dreamy, especially all that food. I’m with ya on the authentic stuff whenever possible.
