Brunch at the Hay Adams

The Hay Adams is a luxury hotel in Washington, DC just a few steps from the White House. We recently had the opportunity to have a private brunch there and it was amazing. The chef at the Lafayette restaurant on property spoiled us rotten.

Brunch at Lafayette restaurant at the Hay Adams

Should you have the opportunity to dine at the Hay Adams, here are some of the  selections you will find.

lafayette menu

Shrimp and grits on any menu commands my attention followed very closely by steak and eggs. A proper brunch for me also involves something with syrup and omelettes are always on style.  So, that’s exactly what we did.

shrimp & grits

I’m no southern gal but, the shrimp and grits were some of the best I’ve had, I was surprised when they chef told me he wasn’t from the south. The creamy buttery texture of the grits and the succulent shrimp did not disappoint.   steak and eggs
The addition of the fried potatoes to the steak and eggs was the perfect compliment.

french omelette at Hay Adams

This omelette was almost too beautiful to eat. cornflake french toast
Cornflake french toast with pear compote, scattered berries and warm caramel sauce…I even licked the cinnamon stick, it was so good.

cup of tea

No brunch would be complete without a cup of green tea. It’s all about balance. Well, at least in my head the tea makes a difference.

Thanks for the grand time, Hay Adams. I’ll be back.

  1. Ok, now I want breakfast for dinner. That French Toast looks amazing! Thank you for sharing on Inspire Me Wednesday. Featuring you in next week’s issue.

    • Thank you Mel! It was so good. It’s going to be hard going back to “regular” french toast after having that.
