Invest in some exercise equipment. Having a gym membership is good. But, what happens when the weather sucks, you have a flat tire or you simply don’t want to leave the house? Keeping some equipment at home is a necessity to keep options open. My home equipment includes my “tried and true” treadmill, some dumbbells, an exercise mat and exercise DVD’s. Especially during t the harsh winter months, it is really important to have exercise options that can be used at home. Maybe you don’t have space for a treadmill, but you can certainly run in place. If dumbbells are not in the budget, use bottles of water or cans of soup to keep muscles tone instead.
The point is to banish the excuses. Develop a system that you can use at home and then use it. Rain, Sleet or Snow…those exercise excuses have to go![Tweet “Rain, sleet or snow…those exercise excuses have to go! #health #wellness”]
Find a Way to Move. Even if you can’t seem to find the 30-60 minutes in your day to exercise, there are always ways to move more. Take the stairs, dance with your kids, park the car a little further away, do squats with while holding your infant. Where there is a will there is a way. If you have the will, find a way to move!
Act the Part. Don’t just say that you want to live a healthier more fit lifestyle, act the part. Subscribe to a fitness magazine. I personally like Shape magazine. Visit blogs, chat rooms, read articles, surround yourself in all things fitness. Prepare some healthy recipes. This will have an overall impact on your psyche.
Pump it Up. Listen to some great music during your workouts. Music is a great motivator. I don’t know one person that doesn’t enjoy some type of music. Not only will it help get your blood pumping., but it will help to keep you motivated and the time exercising will seem to go by quickly.
Get Back Up Again. It is inevitable as long as you are human, that you will mess up. So don’t be so hard on yourself. If you lose your way just pick back up where you left off. Such is life. No one is perfect.
Remember it’s all about balance.
