Visiting a Caribbean Getaway: Fun Things to Do in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands

The Domestic Life Stylist, 9/2012

We had the opportunity to do some great traveling in the month of September.  And if, you have been reading the blog for some time, you know that I love to travel.  Earlier this month, we went back to my island home in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.

While we did not do much in terms of “island touring”, we did make time for family, the beach and some of my favorite island treats.

Coral World

Coral World is an ocean park, observatory and even has a Sea Trek that guests can take advantage of.  While we did not do the Sea Trek, we visited Coral World so that I could share with me daughter some of what I had learned to appreciate growing up.  It was a hot and humid Caribbean day though, so we did have to cut the trip a bit short.

Some of the sea creature that you can touch and see:

There are many other sea creatures and fish to behold.  There are even sea lions! But my little princess was tired, so we had to leave early.  But not before I took a picture of everyone’s favorite Caribbean local, the iguana.

This trip to St. Thomas concluded with some of my Island Favorites:

Appreciating the simple things like a crab seeking shade under my beach chair
Savoring an “island favorite”, Johnny Cake & cheese. Think fried bread…
My favorite: Salt fish

Paté

Think more fried bread…with fish

My Absolute Favorite:

Watching my daughter discovering that traditional sand boxes can be so overrated compared to the beach.
